What Will Happen On The Great Judgement Day?

Judgement-Day

What will happen on the great judgement day? This is God’s final judgement that will bring condemnation to the wicked and rewards to the righteous, those that followed Jesus. This will be a great white throne where the angels and saints will be there with Jesus, clothed in white robes. No one will be able to escape this final judgement. It will be between us and God. There will be no arguments, excuses, or plea bargaining. When we die on this earth as our first death, we will later experience His great judgement day as we read in Hebrews 9:27-28, “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” We will all appear before Jesus at His great white throne as explained in 2 Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” Everyone will be judged according to their words spoken, actions, works, and deeds – Job 34:10-11, Psalms 62:12, Proverbs 24:12, Revelation 20:12. Jesus tells us that by our words spoken, we will either be justified or condemned as stated in Matthew 12:36-37, “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” God is a righteous judge and shows no partiality. God will not be deceived or mocked. No one can buy their way into heaven or inherit eternal salvation by performing good works alone. We will all reap what we have sowed on earth – Galatians 6:7-10. Many will receive God’s ultimate wrath on that great day. All will stand and give an account to God on that day, whether we are Jews, Greeks, or Gentiles as explained in Romans 2:5-16, “But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, He will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality. For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.” The bible also tells us that on that day, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is the Son of God – Romans 14:11-12, Philippians 2:9-11.

The judgements and rewards will be determined by opening all the books that recorded every sin committed and every righteous deed including verifying whether our names are written in the Lambs Book of Life. The prophet Daniel provides us a picture of Jesus as the judge on the great white throne judgement as we read in Daniel 7:9-11, “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took His seat; His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head like pure wool; His throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire. A stream of fire issued and came out from before Him; a thousand thousands served Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened. ‘I looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire.’ ” All evil doers (unbelievers) that rejected Jesus, their names will NOT appear in the book of life and their eternal punishment will be known as the second death. Many who think they were good and righteous or religious will be sadly mistaken when Jesus says to them, “depart from me, I never knew you.” – Matthew 7:21-23. We must have a relationship with Jesus by walking with Him and performing His will for us daily, otherwise we will be sadly mistaken for their will be weeping and gnashing of teeth – Luke 13:28. All the wicked and evil doers, false prophets, and false teachers will be tormented for eternity in the lake of fire (hell) with Satan, Antichrist, False Prophet, and his fallen angelsDaniel 7:11, Daniel 12:1-2, Jude 1:12-15, Revelation 19:20, Revelation 20:10, Revelation 21:6-8. We see the same explanation by the apostle John as stated in Revelation 20:11-15, “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Jesus gives us an explanation and picture of what hades and paradise (Abraham’s bosom/side) are like between the rich man and poor man Lazarus as we read in Luke 16:19-26, “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ ”

Jesus, as the judge, explains how He will separate the righteous sheep on His right and the evil goats on the left as stated in Matthew 25:31-34, “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on his glorious throne. Before Him will be gathered all the nations, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” The goats on His left side will experience eternal condemnation in hell as Jesus states in Matthew 25:41, “Then He will say to those on his left, depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” The righteous believers in Jesus on His right side will inherit eternal life in His kingdom and will NOT experience the second death in the lake of fire. We are also told to rejoice when we are saved for our names will be written in the book of life – Luke 10:20. All Christians that were saved by Jesus will spend eternity with Jesus and will receive various crowns depending on their faithful walk with Him and how they helped further His kingdom by leading others to Christ as stated in 2 Timothy 4:8, “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” The bible tells us that these rewards that will be awarded to the righteous will be incorruptible crowns. These are explained as the imperishable crowns of salvation, life, glory, rejoicing, and righteousness – Matthew 6:19-21, 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, 1 Thessalonians 2:19, 2 Timothy 4:8, James 1:12, 1 Peter 1:3-5, 1 Peter 5:4, Revelation 2:10.

At the great judgement day, the old heavens and earth will pass away by being burned up along with the ungodly as explained in 2 Peter 3:7, “But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.” We should be preparing and watching for the soon return of Jesus, since the rapture will take place soon unless we experience death first. We are to resist sin and remain holy during these last days while eagerly seeking the coming of our Lord as we read in 1 Peter 1:13-21, “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’ And if you call on Him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.” Jesus is the first and the last and He comes quickly. He will be bringing His rewards with Him as stated in Revelation 22:12-13, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” The bible tells us that this day will catch many by surprise by coming like a thief in the night. Therefore, we are to be sober-minded and watchful as we read in 2 Peter 3:10-13, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to His promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” We can see that as the old heavens and earth pass away, there will be a new heaven and new earth along with a new holy city, Jerusalem – Revelation 21:1-4.

We all have forgiveness of sins, by the grace of God and the free gift through Jesus His Son. If you are NOT a saved, born-again believer, you can receive true salvation through Jesus and avoid the second eternal death and punishment in the lake of fireJohn 3:15-21, John 3:35-36.
