God Fearing Fathers Are Blessed Among Men!

Fathers-Day

Why are God fearing fathers blessed among men? Why are fathers so important? As family members, we celebrate Father’s Day to be much more than just getting together for a feast and offering gifts to fathers. Father’s Day is an annual celebration and reminder that we should show appreciation by giving back not only on Father’s Day, but we should perform this act of gratitude and appreciation daily for our fathers since it is very much commendable. Fathers are the special authority figure and large influence in our lives by always providing us with wisdom, instruction, and insight. Fathers are a blessing from God since Adam was the first father on the planet and was created from the very image of GodGenesis 1:26-28. Adam was created from the dust of the ground where God gave him the breadth of life as we read in Genesis 2:7, “then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” God is the Father of all fatherhood – Ephesians 3:14-15. God the Father is head over Jesus the Son, and Christ is the head over all Christian fathers – 1 Corinthians 11:3. God created all fathers to have a relationship with Him and to carry out His will. When fathers walk with God as God fearing men, they are blessed among men as stated in Psalms 112:1-4, “Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.” The righteous man fears the Lord, which is the beginning of all knowledge, wisdom, instruction, security, and longevity – Proverbs 1:7, Proverbs 1:33, Proverbs 2:5-9, Proverbs 10:27. God directs our paths when we fear Him and trust Him with all our heart – Proverbs 3:5-6. God fearing means to trust God and to not lean own our own understanding while despising wickedness as explained in Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech the Lord hates.” Fathers are extremely important since they are called to be the spiritual leaders and head of the household – Ephesians 5:22-33. Fathers are to provide wise instruction for their family and to discipline their children in love by not provoking them to anger – Ephesians 6:4.

Fathers must discipline their children at a young age by teaching them right from wrong and correcting them when they sin against God as stated in Proverbs 22:15, “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of correction will drive it far from him.” We need to ensure that we are setting an example for our children by being a godly leader and by watching over our children, censoring what our children are exposed to while providing bible teachings and biblical scriptures for God’s commandments and His will for us – Deuteronomy 29:29. We must raise our children up in a godly home with godly surroundings by teaching them the word of God and true gospel message so that when they become adults they will NOT depart from it – Proverbs 22:6. We are instructed to teach God’s word and His commandments diligently to our children as we read in Deuteronomy 6:7, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Raising up children to follow God is extremely important since the enemy is after our children. Fathers of righteous children will have rejoicing as we read in Proverbs 23:24, “The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.” The Lord respects all fathers by commanding their children to honor their fathers and their teaching – Proverbs 1:8-9. One of God’s ten commandments is for children to honor their father and mother so that they will have longevity as we read in Exodus 20:12, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.” God also commands all children to respect and honor their fathers along with keeping the sabbath day – Leviticus 19:3. God instructs all parents to bind God’s words in our heart, soul, and on our hand. He also commands us to raise up our offspring in a godly home, teaching them God’s commandments as stated in Deuteronomy 11:18-19 “You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Parents of wise and righteous children will be blessed and will greatly rejoice in reaping the rewards of their offspring as we read in Proverbs 23:22-25, “Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice.” Parents should have great joy in knowing that their children walk in God’s truth through Jesus3 John 1:4. Foolish and wicked children that do not follow God’s commandments and word bring sorrow, grief, and bitterness to their father and mother – Proverbs 10:1, Proverbs 17:25, Proverbs 29:15.

Husbands and wives that are not blessed with children do have the opportunity of adopting children as their own. Pray that God will pave the way for you to be able to adopt a child or children to have as your own for raising them up on the teachings of the gospel. Also, if your father is no longer living, praise and honor God for the times you were able to spend on earth with your father, and praise God for being your spiritual Almighty Father in heaven. Also, pray to God that He will make you and mold you into becoming a better father for your children. Husbands be kind, loving, and encouraging to your wife. Rejoice in the youth of your wife and God’s commandments for He desires a godly offspring – Deuteronomy 24:5, Ecclesiastes 9:9, Proverbs 5:18, Malachi 2:14-15. As Christ loved and died for the Church, husbands should also have the same love for their spouse – Ephesians 5:25-28, 1 Peter 3:7. Children must obey your parents even when you think you are right – Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16, Ephesians 6:1-4. If you are in a disagreement or not on speaking terms with your father, you must forgive and reconcile this relationship with your father. Jesus tells us that our prayers will be hindered (Mark 11:25-26) if we do not forgive others as instructed in Matthew 6:14-15, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” As Jesus died for all our sins and forgave us of our wickedness, you too can forgive others especially your own father – Ephesians 4:32. Refrain from being quarrelsome with your father. You must keep the peace as stated in Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” If you remain angry overnight, then extreme bitterness will settle in and take root and you will give the devil an opportunity. The bible commands this in Ephesians 4:26-27, “…do not let the sun go down on your anger and give no opportunity to the devil.

We owe our heavenly Father all the praise, worship, honor, and glory daily for He showed us unconditional love by sending His only Son Jesus to die in our place for our sins. We can never repay this free gift of salvation from God the Father. Therefore, He is worthy of our praise and worship forever and ever! Amen!

Please have peace and rest this weekend in the apostle Paul’s teaching of the true and unconditional love of God our Father in heaven for us as His children in Christ Jesus as we read in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We wish all fathers a glorious and happy Father’s Day weekend!
