Jesus is very clear in His instructions to us that NO OTHER shall be called father other than the Most High God. He said there is only one that we shall call our father as stated in Matthew 23:9, “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.” If your religion, church, or synagogue teaches you to call your priest, bishop, rabbi, pastor, elder, or any other religious figure the name of “father”, you must STOP since this goes against God’s Word! We only have one true Master who is in heaven as spoken of by the prophet Malachi as we read in Malachi 1:6, “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts to you priests who despise My name.” Malachi teaches us that God is our only Father because He created us all as revealed in Malachi 2:10, “Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us?…” The bible teaches us that we must have a relationship with the one and only true Messiah, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in order to have a relationship with God the Father. Jesus is the one and only true Messiah and Son of God that makes intercession for us with God the Father – Romans 8:34, Hebrews 7:25. No other makes intercession for us except Christ as we read in 1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.” Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith because He died for us and was resurrected to be at the right hand of God the Father on His heavenly throne as revealed in Hebrews 12:2, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Jesus is our High Priest and there is NO OTHER as explained in Hebrews 7:26, “For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens.” As our High Priest, He was tempted in the world just as we are tempted, and yet He knew no sin as stated in Hebrews 4:15, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus paid the price for our sins so that we could become the righteousness of God through Him as we read in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Because Jesus is our only High Priest and Mediator to God the Father, we should ONLY pray to Him and to NO OTHER for the remission of sins as stated in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God through Christ Jesus is the only one that can offer us forgiveness of our sins as we repent, turn to Him, and pray to Him through His Son Jesus – Romans 3:24-25. Therefore, we are to confess our sins to God the Father in Christ Jesus for remission of sins. The scriptures do NOT say confess your sins to a priest, bishop, rabbi, pastor, or elder, in order to obtain forgiveness. These cannot make intercession for you or secure your relationship or salvation with God through Christ. That is between you and God alone through Jesus the only Savior and Son of God. Jesus died by shedding His blood for our sins as God’s new covenant for us as we read in Matthew 26:28, “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Jesus is the only way to heaven and to God the Father as explained in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” God placed His Son Jesus with all authority over all and put all things under His feet as stated in Ephesians 1:20-23, “which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” We are to only pray to God through Christ and to NO OTHER. Jesus teaches us the correct method for praying to God the Father as revealed in Matthew 6:8-13, “For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” We are to make our requests known to God in prayer through Christ and to Him alone as Jesus explains in Matthew 7:11-12, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” The Lord’s Prayer gives us a good example of how we should pray and live our lives for God in Christ. For it is His kingdom come and His will that shall be done in heaven and on earth. NOT our kingdom or our will be done but His.
We cannot just be a hearer of God’s Word and merely believe. For even Satan and the demons believe in one God and that Jesus is the Son of God and they tremble but will end up in the lake of fire. Just believing is NOT enough as stated in James 2:19, “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” We must produce fruit by obeying the commandments of Jesus – John 14:21, James 1:19-27. We must be a doer of His word as we read in Luke 6:46-49, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” We must live out God’s Word in our lives for expanding His kingdom and growing the Church by doing our part to help witness to the lost for Jesus. John the Baptist tells us that every tree that is NOT fruitful or that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and cast into the fire as explained in Matthew 3:10-11, “And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Jesus said many will come to Him on Judgement Day expecting to enter heaven but will be greatly mistaken as stated in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ” As we become born-again Christians, our body is God’s holy temple where Jesus is our chief cornerstone where His Holy Spirit dwells within us Ephesians 2:19-22, “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
Being a born-again Christian does NOT give us a license to sin. As we become born again and a true follower of Christ, we learn to live in the Spirit instead of walking in the flesh – Galatians 5:16-25. We resist sin by being a friend of God and an enemy of the world as we read in James 4:4, “…Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” If we willfully keep on sinning after being enlightened by the gospel, we are in jeopardy of never being justified in Christ as revealed in Hebrews 10:26-27, “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.” Jesus reveals the harsh letters to the seven Churches and how five out of the seven are loveless, compromising, corrupt, dead, and lukewarm. Jesus tells these to repent, or they will lose their lampstand, not enter heaven, be destroyed with His sword, be blot out of the Book of Life, and will be vomited out of His mouth. If they repent and obey His commandments, they will experience eternal life in heaven and be clothed with white robes – Revelation 2:1-29, Revelation 3:1-22. Willfully living in sin causes us to be slaves to sin making us unrighteous before God where we will NOT enter heaven as stated in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” Also, if someone wanders from the truth and never turns back, they will be in jeopardy of eternal death as explained in James 5:19-20, “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.” We can be grafted in or taken away from God’s olive tree due to our belief through faith and good fruit, or due to our unbelief in falling away from the truth as Paul stated in Romans 11:13-24, “For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? For if the first fruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, ‘Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.’ Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore, consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?” If we remain in God’s goodness by walking in His Holy Spirit, with Christ, the main root, we will remain grafted in His olive tree.
If a religion, church, or synagogue with its priest, bishop, rabbi, pastor, elder, or any other teaches you that your sins can be forgiven by confessing your sins to one of them instead of to God is teaching blaspheme by way of deception and false teaching. If they teach you to pray to another besides God the Father in Christ or teach another way to enter heaven other than through Jesus, beware of these false teachers as stated in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” In the last days, they will replace the gospel truth with fables in order to satisfy their own lusts and desires as we read in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth and be turned aside to fables.” Peter tells us that if an unbeliever who becomes enlightened by knowing the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and later, turns away from the truth is worse off than before when they were an unbeliever as stated in 2 Peter 2:18-21, “For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.” The false teachers have caused and will cause many to stumble as we read in Malachi 2:7-8, “For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, and people should seek the law from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. But you have departed from the way; you have caused many to stumble…” We are to test all doctrines according to God’s Word as explained in 1 John 4:1, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” The bible tells us to have NO fellowship with the wicked but rather expose their darkness with the light as stated in Ephesians 5:11-12, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.”
If anyone or any religion changes, adds or takes away from God’s Word, they will suffer the wrath of God and be removed from the Book of Life as we read in Revelation 22:18-19, “For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” Jesus tells us to only fear One in heaven who has power over all souls as explained in Matthew 10:28, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” In the end, everyone’s (righteous & unrighteous) knees will bow and all lips will confess Jesus as Lord as revealed in Philippians 2:9-11, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Why not go ahead and trust in Jesus now of your own free will, for in the end, the wicked will be forced to bow and confess that Jesus is Lord (Romans 14:10-11) before being cast into the lake of fire as God’s righteous judgement and punishment is carried out for those that rejected His only Son, Jesus, the Savior of the world – Revelation 20:11-15.
