For 2,000 years, the non-Christian Jewish people have rejected that Jesus was the true messiah and only Son of God. They only believed that Jesus was a good Samaritan and inspirational teacher with a large following of both Jews and Greeks but did NOT believe Him to be the messiah or Son of God. The Jews also did NOT believe that Jesus was a prophet. They believed that Jesus was a normal Jew where He lived and died as a Jew and was NOT raised from the dead or born of a virgin birth from Mary. There is also first century Jewish texts (non-biblical texts) that reference Jesus by the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, written in approximately 93 A.D. Josephus gives an account that Jesus was a good, virtuous, and wise man that performed many signs and wonders and had a following of Jews and Greeks (known as disciples) where Jesus was condemned and crucified by Pilate. Josephus continues his account where the disciples continued their following of Jesus even after His death and that the disciples claimed that Jesus appeared to them 3 days later after His crucifixion showing that He was risen and alive. Additional accounts from Josephus include John the Baptist and James, the brother and apostle of Jesus. Another first century text (non-biblical) was written by a Roman historian Tacitus around 116 A.D., that provides a non-Jewish or Roman viewpoint of Jesus. These non-biblical historian texts prove that Jesus really existed as the bible claims and was NOT invented or a myth. Among the Jews, the argument still resists Jesus as the true messiah and Son of God as the bible claims?
Since the Jewish people did not believe that Jesus was their messiah, they are still waiting for a messiah to come and regather all the Jewish people to their nation, bring about peace to the Jewish land, and rebuild their Jewish temple. If Jesus was the true messiah as the bible claims, then who is this messiah that the Jews seek? Continue reading to find out more. However, there are some messianic Jews (Christian Jews) that believe that Jesus was indeed the true messiah and only Son of God and are continuing to grow in numbers. These Christian Jews also believe Jesus to be the messiah spoken of by the Old Testament (OT) prophets. Some are listed here (not all) that are found in the scriptures – Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 11:1-5, Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 25:8-9, Isaiah 26:19, Isaiah 35:4-7, Isaiah 49:1-8, Isaiah 52:13-53:12, Isaiah 55:3-4, Jeremiah 31:31-34, Ezekiel 37:24-28, Daniel 2:44-45, Daniel 7:13-14, Daniel 9:24-26, Hosea 11:1, Hosea 13:14, Joel 2:28-32, Micah 5:2-5, Zechariah 3:8-10, Zechariah 6:12-13, Zechariah 9:9-10, Zechariah 12:10-11, Malachi 3:1, Malachi 4:5-6, Psalms 22:16-18, Psalms 89:3-4.
The Muslim faith believe that Jesus was a Muslim prophet (contradicts bible and historian accounts for Jesus being Jewish) and messenger of God but NOT the messiah or Son of God. The Muslims also deny Jesus as being crucified or deity but do believe that God saved Him by raising Him to heaven while still alive. Like the Jews, the Muslims also seek a messiah that will appear soon and be appointed by Allah to perform wonderous signs and miraculous events. This future messiah and savior will be a charismatic and powerful leader with superhuman capabilities and will persecute Christians or any religion faith that goes against the Muslim’s Quran. This powerful and promised messiah will bring moral purification to the entire world. So, could the messiah that the Jews are awaiting be the same messiah that the Muslims seek?
God’s word tells us who this coming messiah will be, but he will NOT be a messiah or savior as the Jews and Muslims are expecting. The bible tells us of a beast that will rise of the sea, known as the Antichrist, during the last days that will be possessed and powered by Satan – Revelation 6:1-2. This beast will be given great authority from the dragon (Satan) over all tongues, tribes, and nations. The Antichrist will have power from the dragon to perform wondering signs and miraculous events. He will speak great and pompous words of blasphemies against God, Jesus, and His kingdom. The beast will cause all both small and great, rich and poor, free and enslaved to worship the dragon and the beast by enforcing his mark be installed on their right hand or foreheads. He will control the world economy, and no one will be able to buy or sell unless they have his mark (666). He will wage war against the Christian saints who have been saved (born again) during this great tribulation time to overpower them and anyone that rejects the mark of the beast – Revelation 13:1-8, Revelation 13:16-18. Jesus will return for His Church and rapture the bible believing Christians before the great tribulation begins – Daniel 12: 1-2, 1 Corinthians 15:52, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1 Thessalonians 5:2. A second beast will rise out of the earth known as the False Prophet, where power and authority will be given to it by Satan the dragon. The False Prophet caused all on the earth to make an image of the beast (Antichrist) and to worship it. He gave breath to the image of the first beast as stated in Revelation 13:11-15, “then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived. And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.” This completes Satan’s evil trinity (dragon, Antichrist, False Prophet) by mimicking God’s holy trinity (God the Father, Jesus the Son, Holy Spirit).
The Antichrist is spoken of by the apostle Paul as the lawless one and sin of perdition that will exalt himself above God by declaring his throne in Jerusalem’s new Holy Temple (God’s Temple), that will eventually be rebuilt. During these ends of days, God will send a strong delusion upon the wicked and unrighteous so that they will believe Satan’s lies about this beast or Antichrist being what the people believe to be the true messiah. When the Antichrist sits on the throne in the holy temple claiming to be God is when Jesus will be coming in His power and glory riding on a white horse – Matthew 24:29-31. Therefore, do NOT be deceived since the bible tells us in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12, “let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of His mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” Jesus repeats Daniel’s prophecy of the coming Antichrist as stated in Matthew 24:15, “so when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand).” The Antichrist will make a peace treaty covenant with Israel and other nations but will deceive many and will not keep the peace but will wage war against the Jewish nation – Daniel 9:27.
At this time, Jesus will return upon His second coming with all His angels and Christian saints that were originally raptured before the great tribulation began. Jesus comes to the rescue for the Jewish people and defeats the Antichrist along with all the nations that waged war against Israel at the battle of Armageddon. This battle becomes a blood bath for those that come up against Jesus with the blood reaching as high as 4 feet for over 180 miles – Joel 3:12-13, Ezekiel 39:1-22, Isaiah 63:1-6, Revelation 14:19-20, Revelation 16:12-16. The apostle John explains the vision he saw in Revelation 19:11-21, “then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems, and He has a name written that no one knows but Himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, “Come, gather for the great supper of God, to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.” And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against Him who was sitting on the horse and against His army. And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of Him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.”
Next, Satan is thrown into the bottomless pit for 1,000 years while all the saints reign with Christ for 1,000 years. At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan will be released again for a short while as we see in Revelation 20:1-3, “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.” What a glorious time it will be as saints reigning with our true king and messiah, Jesus for 1,000 years? The bible tells us what we can expect during this reign prior to the great white throne judgement (Revelation 20:11-15). Also, the saints that were persecuted to death during the great tribulation were resurrected to reign with Jesus during His millennial reign as we read in Revelation 20:4-6, “then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also, I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.” The remaining unbelievers that died before the rapture and to all that died during the tribulation that were not resurrected as saints has experienced the first death and will remain asleep until the great white throne judgement which takes place after Christ’s millennial reign.
