The Christians in Afghanistan are in desperate need of our prayers as the Taliban terrorist group has taken control of the country and is threating to persecute and assassinate members of the body of Christ! Paul told us that when one member of the body of Christ suffers, we all suffer as stated in 1 Corinthians 12:26, “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” The bible tells us that we are to pray in the Spirit for the all the saints with supplication as we read in Ephesians 6:18, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” We are to also pray without ceasing and to give thanks to God for everything since this is God’s will for us as indicated in 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, “pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Therefore, we should pray that all the Christians would be spared in Afghanistan by God’s protection – fleeing to safety, being rescued, and not experience persecution from the Taliban in order that they may continue their race of endurance (1 Corinthians 9:24-27) on carrying out the Father’s will for them in Christ Jesus. We should also lift up to God the Afghan people and others in the land where this distress would bring many unbelievers to the kingdom of God through Christ. Pray that what the enemy meant for evil, God will use this for His good, purpose, and glory, and for those that are in the body of Christ – Genesis 50:20, Exodus 7:1-5, Romans 8:28, Romans 9:14-24.
