What is going on in the world? Can anyone explain the evil that is taking place on the earth? Deadly earthquakes, volcano eruptions, floods, wildfires, extreme and bizarre weather patterns, and other major disasters are on the rise. Plaques of coronavirus, swine fever, bubonic, septicemic, locusts, rats, and more. Demonic possessions, UFO sightings, government coups, violent riots, racisms, and deadly crimes are on the rise. The bible tells that these things would happen in the last days (end of days) similar to the wicked days of Noah’s time. Jesus, God’s only Son, explains these last days similar to birthing pains that will take place before He raptures the church and prior to the great tribulation. Jesus explains this to His disciples in Matthew 24:4-8, “…See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.” Even though we see much darkness in the world and fear for our nation or city, God is still in control. While the darkness seems to be getting darker, we have hope in our Almighty God. God is still on His heavenly throne. God has always existed and will always remain. He knows the beginning from the end. Nothing happens in heaven or on earth that He does not have full control over. Nothing can stand against Him as we read in Isaiah 45:5-7, “I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me, that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other. I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things.” His word also tells us in Psalms 103:19, “The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all.” God is the creator of the heavens and the earth including all living things. We are all in His hands as we read in Job 12:10, “In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.” God neither sleeps nor slumbers – Psalms 121:2-4. He knows all our thoughts. God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnibenevolent, etc. It is impossible to put into words the awesome power of God. The bible tells us in 1 Chronicles 29:11-12, “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.”
No matter how anxious and dark things seem to be, God is always in full control. He is in control of light and darkness as stated in Daniel 2:21-22, “He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.” Also, Psalms 139:12 states “even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.” God is a great and righteous God, a God of unconditional love and unfailing mercy. He is a most powerful consuming fire. God is to be feared and deserves our praise – Psalms 96:4. He is the Potter, and we are the Clay. God came to earth over 2,000 years ago in the flesh as His only Son Jesus Christ. Jesus was the true light and superior to ALL darkness and where darkness does not understand the light as we read in John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” God saved us from the darkness by forgiveness of our sins through His Son Jesus as stated in Colossians 1:13-14, “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Jesus also tells us to open our eyes to the darkness and to remain in the light by resisting all forms of evil as we read in Acts 26:18, “to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ ” If we walk in the darkness, but say we walk with God through Jesus, we deceive ourselves and are called liars as stated in 1 John 1:5-7, states “…God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” The bible tells us that when we become saved (believers), we are born again and no longer walk in darkness but remain in the light. We are also called to be as light to expose the darkness and their unfruitful works as explained in Ephesians 5:8-14, “for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’ ”
Because of God’s love, He directs our paths and has good plans for us – Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 16:9. God’s ways are above ours as stated in Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” For with God, nothing is impossible – Luke 1:37. We can have peace and put our minds at ease as we read in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Even though the dark clouds that hover over us never seem to end, we can have hope in 1 John 4:4, “…for He (Jesus) who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” The bible tells us in Psalms 27:14, “Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” Jesus tells us to NOT fear men or evil darkness but to fear only God as stated in Matthew 10:28, “…do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him (God) who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” King David recited Psalms 23 during his time of trouble as we read in Psalms 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” We are to be strong and courageous, removing all worry and anxieties for the Lord our God is with us wherever we go – Joshua 1:9. We are called to be anxious for nothing and to pray without ceasing by casting all our concerns on Him – Philippians 4:6-7. The bible also tells us in 1 Peter 5:6-7, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” Jesus tells us that He is the only way and true salvation, the true light. Anyone, who follows Jesus is NOT in darkness as we read in John 8:12, “Then Jesus spoke to them…‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’ ” Jesus also tells us that we are to refrain from worrying and to seek Him and His kingdom first before anything else as stated in Matthew 6:33-34, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ‘Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.’ ” Nothing can separate us from Jesus (God’s love). We are in His hands as we read in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We can have a joyful heart in that ALL things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose – Romans 8:28-30. So, let us put on the whole armor of light (God) by walking in the spirit and resist all forms of evil and darkness – Romans 13:12-14.
As Christians (saved believers), we are called to let our light shine outwardly so that others (non-believers) may see the glory of God in us and come to know Jesus – 2 Corinthians 4:6. Jesus tells us to spread the gospel (good news) to the entire world as stated in Luke 11:33-34, “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.” In these last days, several lies have infiltrated the world that reject the existence of our true creator and His creation to where we came into existence by chance or evolution. The world has also rejected the true Messiah Jesus, God’s only Son. God has stated that there will be a judgement day where we will all stand before Him to answer for our actions, beliefs, and to be tested by the fire, and will determine our eternity fate by whether our names are written in the Lambs book of life. For on that day there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Jesus, our beloved Savior and Redeemer, gives us hope for the great judgement day in John 12:48-50, “The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father (God) who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.” Jesus, alone, saves us from eternal condemnation and destruction as we read in John 3:18-21, “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” God’s word tells us the wages of sin is death and that we can receive eternal life in heaven through His only Son Jesus, a free gift, by the grace of God – Romans 6:23. The everlasting and one, true living God loved us with unconditional love and gave us eternal salvation through His only Son Jesus. God ransomed His Son Jesus for us which was His ultimate plan before the creation of the earth as the bible states in 1 Peter 1:19-21, “…with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.” Another scripture passage tells us that God saved us by His holy calling and awesome grace through Christ Jesus which was planned before time began but has now been revealed through our Savior’s death and resurrection and brought to light through the spreading of the gospel (good news) – 2 Timothy 1:9-10. Jesus is unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever – Hebrews 13:8. Jesus is also the beginning and end as we read in Revelation 1:8, “ ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’ ”
